Lysimachia GB Formula is a modification of the Minor Bupleurum Formula (Xiao Chai Hu Tang), designed to treat inflammation or gallstones. We have added lysimachia (Jin qian cao) to clear damp-heat from the liver and gallbladder and to expel gallstones, as well as turmeric (Yu Jin) to invigorate blood qi, clear heat, warm the blood, and benefit the gallbladder; and Cappilaris (Yin Chen hao) to clear damp-heat from the liver and gallbladder. Bamboo shavings (zhu ru) cool the blood, clear heat and phlegm-heat; Gardenia Fruit (Shan Zhi zi) drains damp-heat and moves stagnant qi from the liver and gallbladder.White Peony (Bai Shao) soothes the liver to relieve pain caused by spasms in the abdominal region; Melia Fruit (Chuan Lian Zi) regulates stagnant qi in the liver and relieves pain. These modifications make this formula specifically suited for gallbladder inflammation, damp-heat, and gallstones.
