This formula evolved from research in Fuzheng Therapy, made in Modern China. Fuzheng means supporting normal Qi correctly, which helps the body protect itself from adverse influences. Fuzheng Therapy originally uses tonics or herbs to protect the immune system of patients suffering from cancer and who are undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy. This therapy is currently used in patients who have HIV+, ARC, chronic Epstein-Barr and patients with other immune deficiency syndromes.
The main objective of Astragalus & Ligustrum Formula (Huang Qi Dong Qing Pian) is to tone qi, supporting the Spleen and the Kidneys. In addition to the tonic herbs, we added Poria to drain moisture, and Chen Pi to move the Qi. Chen Pi can also prevent swelling and stagnation that can arise when taking herbal tonics.
